Five-year-old electrocuted …Power Company being blamed

 
East Bank Demerara : In what can only be described as a tragic end to the year, a Craig, East Bank Demerara, family is now mourning the loss of one of its youngest members. Around 6:00pm yesterday five-year-old Autuane Lovelle was pronouced dead at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre. The young boy was electrocuted after stepping on a live electrical wire in his parents’ yard at 334 Craig, East Bank Demerara.
It was revealed that the lad was playing with an older brother when he came into contact with the wire. He was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre but valiant efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Reports are that the tragedy is clearly the fault of the Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL) as the wiring done in the area has been described as nothing less than “shoddy work.” Residents said that it was just recently GPL workers were carrying out work in area which has of recent been plagued with constant blackouts. Police have since launched an investigation into the fatal incident.
