Five West Indian cricketers drafted into the IPL

Mumbai.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy are among five cricketers from the region who were drafted by drafted by franchises for this year's Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sammy, 29 will play for the newly formed Sunrisers Hyderabad after fetching a price of $US425,000 in yesterday's auction. Hyderabad have replaced the now defunct Deccan Chargers,

Sammy will be joined in the high profile multi million dollar Twenty 20 league by fast  bowler  Ravi Rampaul who was bought by Royal Challenger Bangalore for US $290,000 and Fidel Edwards who fetch a price of US $210,000 for the Rajasthan Royals.

Jason Holder of Barbados who made his international debut in the One Day International series again Australia last Friday was purchase by the Chennai Super Kings for US $20,000.

Christopher Barnwell of Guyana, who had an outstanding series in the recently held Caribbean T20 series was snapped up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for US$50,000.
