Georgetown: Excerpts from Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan’s press conference which provided clarity on Constitutional Agencies Budget 2019 Preparations.
1- “Constitutional Agencies are no longer required to consult or submit their budgets to the Ministry of Finance.”
2- “The Minister of Finance is required to make recommendations to the National Assembly and provide reasons for budget of Constitutional Agencies.”
3- “Once the Budget for constitutional agencies is passed, it cannot be changed by the Ministry of Finance.”
4- “Constitutional Agencies have full autonomy over their budgets, except the available resources.”
5- “Budgets of Constitutional Agencies are appropriated within twenty-eight (28) days of approval.”
6- “I don’t interrogate the budgets of Constitutional Agencies during preparations.”
