Eye care centre officially open

Bridgetown.

The Lions Eye Care Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH)  was officialy open yesterday evening by Minister of Health Donville Inniss.

In a address at the opening ceremony, Head of Medical Services at the QEH David Callendar, predicted that the center will make a significant difference in cataract surgeries.

"I am willing to bet that in about four to six months we can knock off our cataract waiting list, and the time of wating for cataract surgery should drop to a few weeks or less," Callender said.

Minister Inniss commended the QEH on the opening of the Eye Care Centre and pointed out that Barbados was on the way to becoming the hub of opthalmology in the hemisphere.
