Environmental tax needed to assist with city cleanup-Mayor

Georgetown: City Mayor, Hamilton Greene says that a percentage of the environmental tax which garners in excess of one billion dollars in revenue should be used in accordance with the law for the cleaning up of the environs of the city.

The tax is charged for the recycling of Styrofoam,  aluminium and plastic containers and the Mayor relates that the Government is dismissive of the Mayor and City Council for reasons for which he claims are unclear. Green also said that the Haag Bosh landfill site at Eccles is a disaster
The Chief Citizen revealed that the government needs to give the City Council the new evaluation role, which will allow the council to increase its tax base.

He explained that the law requires that the city be revalued periodically, and the valuation division has failed to give the Council the new valuation role. And since new buildings are being constructed the taxes are supposed to be heightened.

The Environmental tax is one source of revenue for the budget. This tax goes into the Consolidated Fund.
