Election Fever in Barbados

Bridgetown.

Hours after the date of the general elections was announced by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart elections fever was spreading across Barbados.

 Leader of the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) Owen Arthur, told the press that his party manifesto was completed and were ready for a hard fought campaign over the next three weeks.

Yesterday afternoon candidates for the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP) and the  BLP were seen canvassing in consittuencies across the island.

Overnight, hundreds of posters with pictures of the candidates of both parties have appeared on poles, walls, houses, shops and other structures across the island.

This morning several political ads on behalf of the BLP were aired on the radio stations. Tonight the DLP starts its elections campaign with a public meeting at the Esplanade Bay Street, Bridgetown.
