Drunken police crashes into female motorcyclist in fatal accident

Georgetown: A police constable who crashed into a motorcycling killing her Sunday on the Ruimveldt Public Road, Georgetown is in custody.

Dead is Gem Simone Hall of lot 22 Walker Terrace Street, Castello Housing Scheme.

Police said they are are investigating a serious accident which occurred about 14:30hrs Sunday  afternoon on Ruimveldt Public Road involving Private Motor Car PSS 4303 driven by a Police Constable and motorcycle CS 145 ridden by 44 year old Gem Simone Hall.

Investigation revealed that the car was proceeding north on the western side of the western carriageway on the Ruimveldt Public Road allegedly at a fast rate when it collided with the motorcyclist, who was proceeding west on the southern side of First Street Alexander Village, thence onto the eastern carriageway and turned north onto the western carriageway of the said Public Road and ended up in the path of the motorcar.

As a result of the impact, the motorcyclist who received several injuries was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation  where she was treared and said to be in a stable  condition.

All documents for motor car PSS 4303 are expired. A breathalyzer test was administered and the Police Constable was found to be over the legal limit of alcohol consumption.
