Driver remains in custody for assisting in armed robbery

 

West Bank Demerara : The driver of a getaway vehicle remains in custody assisting the lawmen in the investigation of an armed robbery at West Bank  Demerara.

The police are continuing their investigating into an armed robbery that occurred at Tuesday last  at Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara, where businessman Rohan Bisnauth, 53 years, was attacked and robbed of $220,000.00.

Rohan Bisnauth and sales clerk Christina Ashram, 19 years of Sisters, WBD, were in the grocery shop when three men entered, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

The victims were held up, during which Christina Ashram was assaulted about the body and the cash taken away by the perpetrators who escaped in a waiting motor vehicle.

Quick response by the police led to the arrest of the driver of the getaway vehicle at Success, East Coast Demerara.
