Dr. Astell Collins appointed Special Envoy Representative to Guyana

Georgetown: Guyanese Youth Leadership Strategist, Dr. Astell Collins has been appointed Special Envoy Representative to the Government of Guyana, on behalf of the United States Global Leadership Council. Collins, who has served Guyana with his leadership and human development strategies, said that this new platform provides him with access to a cadre of professionals from around the world who possess a plethora of specialized skills that can offer solutions to challenges affecting our nation’s growth and development.   

The United States Global Leadership Council is an institution that was establish to impact nations through business development & global leadership, which also provides sustainable solutions through leadership, integrity and advance business strategies.

The appointment occurred following a high-level meeting convened by the United States Global Leadership Council, which is headquartered in close proximity to the White House in Washington DC. The meeting engaged political, religious and business leaders from around the world including a representative from the US State Department. Other attendees included representatives from African Governments and representatives influencing change in nations such as the Ukraine and the Middle East. According to Dr. Collins, ‘it was indeed an exceptional gathering of influential individuals who were responsible for engineering national change in some way’.

Dr. Collins stated that he was proud to be part of such an impressive body and felt a great sense of responsibility to his nation and immediately sought to identify opportunities that would benefit Guyana. ‘As I listened to the various presentations’, stated Dr. Collins, ‘I knew I had entered a new realm of global geopolitics’.

Dr. Collins holds a number of international portfolios. He served as an executive for a number of years in South Africa and upon returning to Guyana he was focused on serving the nation with the leadership experience he had garnered. Likewise, Collins continues to represent his nation with distinction on those platforms as he seeks to advance Guyana’s interest.    

Moreover, for the past four years, Collins has facilitated hundreds of BD1 Leadership seminars throughout Guyana, the Caribbean and internationally. He has also provided guidance and leadership strategies to a number of private, non-governmental organisations as well as governmental institutions. Furthermore, there is a growing international interest for his expertise and unique leadership philosophies. For instance, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity and also Global Representative for the Interfaith and Peace-Building Initiative with responsibility over the Caribbean States and its territories.

Dr. Collins stated that he would utilize his new platform to fulfill his mandate given to him by his mentor, the late Dr. Myles Munroe, which is to ‘transform followers into leaders and leaders into agents of change’.
