Dookeran says there is room for dialogue with the unions

Finance Minister Winston Dookeran says he believes there is hope for a resolution with trade union leaders, despite a warning yesterday by the unions to brace for serious industrial action to come.
Speaking to the media following today's Cabinet meeting at the Coco Reef Hotel in Crown Point Tobago, Minister Dookeran told reporters that the unions were misinformed that the five percent being offered is a cap by the government.
He says the meeting yesterday was not called for negotiations and he says as such the unions are right that no agreements were reached. However he says he is disappointed by the approach taken by the unions, saying there is still room for dialogue.
