Doctors back on the job

Kingston.

Doctors have ended their sickout after a meeting at the Ministry of Finance.

On Thursday and Friday, several doctors in the  public-health sector called in sick to draw attention to a number of unresolved issues with the Government.

The Jamaica Medical Doctors' Association (JMDA), and the Association of Government Consultants had raised concerns about the impact of an impending reclassification exercise as well as issues related to outstanding allowances and pension payments.

Last night president of the JMDA, Dane Miller, told journalists that full service  should resume on Monday as only emergency services are usually offered on weekends.

He  said the doctors now have renewed hope as there has been a commitment to deal with the issues expeditiously.
