Diwali festival to commence with Motorcade

Georgetown : Over the decades the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha has been spearheading the Diwali Motorcades countrywide.
The Festival of Lights – Diwali, known for its colorful displays of various representations will begin on November 10, 2012.
The event also displayed the creativity of Hindu believers.
The motorcades commenced in 1974, after the Sabha’s president, Reepu Daman Persaud, thought that the festival of Diwali was too significant an occasion to just be restricted to the lighting of diyas on Diwali night.
These motorcades are usually held on the days leading up to Diwali each year in the various counties.
The largest of these has always been held on the eve of Diwali each year along the East Coast of Demerara. The final of the motorcades would culminate at La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara.
