Georgetown: Murder charges are in store for a 53-year-old man who is accused of killing his elderly mother at their Good Faith, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara home Thursday night.
Dead is Cecilia Madray, 75. Reports reveal that her son who is considered a drug addict constantly abuse the pensioners. The deranged man is also accused of sexually abusing his mother before her demise.
Police are awaiting a post mortem examination before charging the suspect.
According to reports, she was found in a pool of blood on the floor of her home at about 22:00 hrs by members of the Community Policing Group (CPG) after neighbours heard loud noises coming from the house. Upon checking the bloodied body was covered with a mosquito net and there was a gaping wound to the head.
Villagers said that the drug addict would often beat his mother for money to buy drugs and to satisfy his alcoholic needs. Reports also indicate that he would sell valuables from the house and use the money to purchase illicit drugs. It is reordered that the alleged drug addict told police that his mother was the victim of an accident when she fell down; however police did not believe him.
According to residents, after Madray’s husband died, she relocated to a foreign country to live with her daughter, who also passed away subsequently. As such, Madray returned to Guyana and lived with her son, who villagers described as a habitual user of cocaine.
