DEMTOCO spreads Christmas cheer to less fortunate

Georgetown: The Demerara Tobacco Company as part of its Christmas outreach and Community Service Initiative provided lunches on Friday for the less fortunate as part of its Community Service Initiative at the company’s head office on Carmichael Street, Georgetown.

Managing Director of DEMTOCO,  Maurlaine Argyle-Kirton, said that the Company as part of its goodwill feeding programme in the season of sharing and giving.

“As a standing corporate citizen we have decided to extend our love to the less fortunate and anyone who is less fortunate was invited to come and receive a meal. Every member of staff has contributed in kind and in using their service ensuring we prepare a sumptuous meal added with a slice of our famous black cake,” the Managing Director said.

She said that was one of the ways the company expressed best wishes to the less fortunate who are sometimes forgotten.

Many of the persons receiving meals expressed gratitude and said that DEMTOCO had assisted greatly in giving back. At the venue many children and the elderly received meals during the day.
