Cricket Ombudsman, two permanent secretaries appointed

 

Georgetown : Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon during his post-Cabinet media briefing announced three appointments approved and made by Cabinet.

The Cricket Ombudsman was appointed to Guyana, by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr. Frank Anthony. Dr. Winston McGowan is the first Cricket Ombudsman to be appointed to Guyana, subsequent to Cabinet’s approval. The post is new to Guyana and is a feature of the recently enacted Cricket Administration Law, enacted in Parliament and assented to in August 2014.

Among his duties, the Ombudsman is responsible for elections of the officers of the recognised cricketing organisations of Guyana, in accordance with the provision of the Cricket Administration Law.

Further, the Deputy Permanent Secretary Patrick Findlay has been appointed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security with responsibility in the labour sector.

Dhaneshwar Deonarine, the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Industry and Commerce, has also been appointed to the position of Permanent Secretary.
