Georgetown : The back-log of paper records of data at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has been cleared, months ahead of deadline. Cabinet had issued a December 31, 2014 deadline to the board and management of the NIS to have all outstanding contribution records updated, uploaded and placed on the NIS data management system.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon disclosed that according to the end of June records presented by the Scheme’s management to Cabinet, the virtually 15 million of the outstanding contribution records have been electronically entered into their data base.

Dr. Luncheon explained that the time from the end of June to December will now be concentrated on data verification.

He noted that this aspect is ‘endlessly more challenging’ and will be more wide ranging, as it will involve the input of not only the staff and management of NIS, but contributors and employers as well for the December 31 deadline to be met for 100 percent verification.
