Collapse Moco Moco Bridge report in preparation for authorities

moco-moco-bridge-collapse-4Lethem: Reports coming out of Region 9 are that the Moco Moco Bridge, (bridge No. 2), along the Culvert City long way has collapsed under the weight of a truck transporting an excavator.

The equipment, owned by V. Dalip Enterprise was heading to Lethem from the Deep South Rupununi after completing work on the Waradapo Bridge. No one was injured.

A report is being prepared by the Regional Administration which will then be sent to the relevant authorities.

It was disclosed that heavy duty vehicles traversing the route usually use the creek bed during the dry season. It is presumed that the bridge buckled under the combined weight of the low-bed truck and the excavator.

Additionally, the 400 foot dam was washed away on May 10, 2013; nevertheless access to the St. Ignatius Bridge is still available.

Another vehicle from the said company had broken the Conar Bridge crossing with a truck laden with concrete culverts in 2011. That bridge was repaired last year by the Regional Administration with savings from the current Budget.
