Cocaine in Ochro accuse given 5 years sentence

prisonGeorgetown:  Hadrick Cummings of 23 John Street Campbellville, Georgetown was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment after pleading pleaded guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

He made his first court appearance Wednesday before Magistrate Ann Mc Lenna. He was also fined $40.5M.

The 25 year old on August 12 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri made arrangements to export 195 boxes of Ochro and other vegetables that included 15 kilograms of cocaine.

The prosecutor said checks were made by ranks from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) during which the drugs were discovered in 99 of the boxes that had ochros.

The street value of the drug was estimated at $13.5M.
