Clico directors learnt late of financial troubles

Port-of-Spain: Former Clico director Hayden Charles has told the Commision of Inquiry into Clico and the Hindu Credit Union that members of the Clico board were unaware of the deep financial problems facing the company even though the chairman Lawrence Duprey had written to the Central Bank seeking official intervention.

Duprey, according to attorney Reginald Armour, wrote the Central Bank on January 13th, 2008 seeking government intervention but Charles said board members never knew the true state of finances until January 26th 2008, four days before the government intervened.
