Citizens urged to use phones, videos against criminal acts

arrest2Georgetown: The Home Affairs Ministry is urging citizens to make full use of ‘On Line Crime Reporting System (OCRS.) This was an initiative which was launched last year October.

This new feature allows citizens who possess or have access to cell phones, computers and other internet connected Information Technology (IT) devices to report crimes to the Guyana Police Force (GPF). Citizens who have witnessed a crime or have information on any criminal activity, can use their cell phones, blackberry devices, tablets and computers to send images, sound recordings, video, text messages and even website URLs to the police.

Emails can be sent to crimestoppergy@gmail.com, crimestoppergy@yahoo.com or crimestoppergy@hotmail.com. Text messages can be sent to 623-6968, 623-6072 and for those with BlackBerry handsets can add pins 2804E429 or 2828B269, and send the relevant information.
