Churches, Community Centers to be used for food distribution

The Mining town of Linden which is currently in its fifth day of protest action against an electricity tariff increase and now the killing of three protestors, have vowed to not let up.

Regional Chairman Sharma Solomon last evening told thousands gathered for a rally at the scene of last Wednesday’s shooting, that the Churches and Community Centers will be used as distribution points for food.

He said that the leadership of Linden will not abandon the protest which has found consensus with the religious and business community in the region.

One million dollars cash has been donated to assist with the burial of the dead by the business community and food is already streaming in as the community maintains its blockades.
