Christmas Village replaces “Main Big Lime”

 

Georgetown: The ‘Main Big Lime’ this year has been replaced with the Christmas village which will be held for four days beginning from December 21st through Christmas Eve Day.

 According to the Tourism Ministry, spectators will find themselves in a dazzling wonderland set aglow in a unique setting of holiday scenes meshed with festive foods and a wide array of local entertainment.

The grand launch will be on Friday December 21st at 5:30pm in front of the Courts, Main Street Branch, the Main Street Avenue, from Quamina to Middle Streets. The area will be transformed and all Guyana is invited to gather with their family and friends to make visiting the Christmas Village part of their Holiday tradition.

Complementing this will be live entertainment is to be featured nightly, with renditions of jazz, steel pan and caroling to rouse the holiday spirit of unity and togetherness in all who visit the Village, as they usher in the celebration of all the magic Christmas brings.

In many countries a Christmas Village is a mammoth and extraordinary seasonal attraction which pulls thousands of tourists and citizens to view the Christmas lights and cottages, the event draws visitors from great distances as well as local families who have made visiting a Christmas Village part of their Christmas tradition.
