Change aviation rules says businessman

Bridgetown.

Prominent Barbadian businessman Ralph "Bizzy" Williams, has suggested that aviation rules in the region should be changed to prevent any subsidized airline from cutting its published fares for a year after a new private airline starts operations.

"If after a year the taxpayer funded airlines want to cut their fares to compete with the private airline no problem,  the rules would force them to continue offering the low fares for a minimum of one year", Williams said.

The former director of Redjet bitterly complained that taxpayers' money was being squandered to put new airlines out of business before they could establish themselves.
