Cash for gold worrying BCCI

Bridgetown.

President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry Lalu Vaswani has issued a call for legitimate cash for gold businesses to go back to the drawing board and work with the Royal Barbados Police Force to remove the negative aura that has enveloped the sector.

"What we witnessing is a conflict of public safety versus legitimate economic activity. We are seeing a threat to our way of life and it is a symptom of the moral decline in our social fabric. It has the capacity to undermine our key foreign exchange earner in tourism, so we must not underestimate the potenital  this has problem in affecting our total way of life", Vaswani told Trakker News.

"One of the first things the legitmate cash for gold operators can do is to meet with the Commissioner of Police to identify what are the exact terms of the new legislation and to imlement those terms", Vaswani said.

"What the the legislation seeks to do is regulate and create a safer environment in which they can operate.  They need to understand they have to work within the law", he added.laluVaswani
