Carjacking ring busted, several in custody

Georgetown: Police in Georgetown on Friday night acting on information received , went to a property located at Monument Hill, Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway and conducted a search during which a quantity of vehicle parts and several vehicles suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained were found and have since been lodged at the Timehri Police Station.

According to the police , five persons including an ex-policeman and four females have been taken into custody and are assisting with the investigation.

Meanwhile,ranks of the Force’s Major Crimes Unit on Friday night also arrested a couple at their Vryheid’s Lust North ,ECD home after a quantity of Allion,Premio and Spacio parts with engraved numbers,was found on their premises. The couple’s names were given as 29-year old Shivendra “Buju/Mohan” Tekumarie and his wife Davina Arjune.

Investigations are in progress.

In recent months , a number of vehicle owners lost their cars , some of  which which were stolen by thieves  while others were relieved of their vehicles by the hands of carjackers.

Several persons have since appeared in court as the police appear to be making a headway into the unlawful act.
