Caribbean Airlines investigates chaos onboard flight from Toronto to Jamaica

Piarco: Caribbean Airlines has launched an investigation into chaotic scenes aboard one of its flights from Toronto to Jamaica on Monday.

Amatuer video shot by one of the passengers on board shows the woman hurling loud abuses at passengers.

Passengers ran from their seats as the woman also brandished a six-inch metal nail file.

The pilot ordered that the woman be restrained and tie-straps were already brought out but the quick work by a Jamaican music artiste Luciano eventually calmed her down.

Caribbean Airline's Head of Corporate Communications, Clint Williams says an investigation has now been launched by the airline to look at how the matter was handled.

He says the crew had to take a number of factors into consideration including the trauma to other passengers of physically wrestling the woman to the ground and diverting the aircraft to another destination resulting in delays.

Williams maintains that no passengers were under threat at anytime from the woman who was allowed to disembark the flight as normal in Jamaica. She was later interviewed by police but no charges were laid.

Caribbean Airlines says it is now considering whether the woman would be allowed to ever board its aircraft again.
