Caribbean Airline is official partner in ICAO Transport Confab

Caribbean Airlines is the “Official Airline Partner” of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Air Transport Meeting which will take place in Georgetown, Guyana from November 21-23, 2018 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Liliendaal.

The conference will see heads of ICAO’S 192-member states meeting in Guyana to discuss challenges and future collaborations within the air transportation sector which is a major contributor to global-economic prosperity and crucial to the growth of business and tourism especially in developing countries.

Caribbean Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Garvin Medera stated: “Caribbean Airlines is proud to support this major international conference in Guyana, which is one of Caribbean Airlines key markets. The theme of the meeting “Promoting Connectivity for Sustainable Air Transport Development” is closely aligned to the mission of Caribbean Airlines, which is to connect the people of the region and beyond”.

Mr. Medera continued: “We are pleased that ICAO has chosen Guyana for this important meeting which will no doubt benefit the region. It is well documented that air transport is vital to the people of the Caribbean and to global development. Some reports suggest that the aviation sector has directly and indirectly supported over 67.3 million jobs worldwide and contributes approximately US$ 2.7 trillion to the global economy. Caribbean Airlines welcomes the opportunity to support this kind of event in our region, where aviation professionals will discuss major issues affecting the industry”.

Mr. Saheed Sulaman, Director, Air Transport Management, Guyana Civil Aviation Authority stated: “Guyana is proud to host such a prestigious and important aviation meeting that will not only benefit Guyana but the Caribbean region and the wider world. This is the biggest aviation meeting in the history of Guyana bringing together 192 States.”

Since its start in 2007, Caribbean Airlines has provided continuous and reliable service to the people of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and the Guyanese Diaspora. Caribbean Airlines’ has an average of six daily flights and carries over 350,000 passengers to and from Guyana annually.
