BV/Triumph NDC gets concrete bridge leading to cemetery

Georgetown : Former Deputy Chief Education Officer, Ms Bibi Shariman Ali who hails from Leonora, West Coast Demerara, on behalf of the Ali family symbolically handed over the keys to the gate erected on a newly constructed bridge to Chairman of the Beterverwagting/Triumph Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), Bruce Adams.

The presentation was done in the presence of Central Islamic Organisation’s (CIOG’s) Director of Education, Shaikh Moen-ul-Hack and other members of the Muslim community.

The concrete bridge was constructed at a cost $900,000 and will allow for easy access to the BV/Triumph Muslim Cemetery by residents from BV, Triumph, Mon Repos and Success on the East Coast Demerara.

The bridge was constructed to accommodate members of the Islamic community as prior to the commissioning; access to the cemetery was done from the eastern side of the road which was hectic.

Ali who made the presentation on behalf of her family Mohamed Osman Ali, her husband and retired Headmaster; and her sons Mohamed Aqtar Ali, and Irfaan Ali, Minister of Housing, explained that her family is of the view that everyone deserves a respectful burial, thus the construction of the bridge.
