Business association warns of wrecking system

Port-of-Spain: The Downtown Owners and Merchant's Association (DOMA) is warning that wrecking of vehicles has resumed in the capital city.

The Association says while it has been given assurances in the downtown city center that parking restrictions would be relaxed, it says the Association is once again experiencing the hardship of parking restrictions.

DOMA believes the action is unfair since customers have little or no parking options in the city.

It says in order to avoid the $500 wrecking fee, members of the public should remain with their vehicles in St James, Woodbrook, Newtown, Belmont and downtown Port-of-Spain.

It also warns that the absence of "no-parking" signs does not protect motorists.
