Budget for all sectors

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler, yesterday outlined a number of proposals to assist the economic sectors in his Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals in the House of Assembly yesterday evening.

Sinckler give back money to the consumers and detailed a alternative energy plan to cut the country's $730 million annual bill for imported oil.

In a speech  that lasted over four hours, Sinckler presented  several  measures that give significant support to all of the  country's economic sectors.

He adjusted the tax bands threshold and reduced the income tax rate to 17.5 percent for earning between $24,200 and $30,000 in a move that restored all the imcome lost by workers affected by the Government decision to tax travel and entertainment allowances in the 2010 Budget.

Land tax for hotels were frozen at the current rate and a additional $5 million ws given to the Barbados Tourism Authority to assist in special marketing activies for the rest of the year.
