British fighters fined

Bridgetown.

Three British nationals, charged with disruptive behaviour onboard Virgin Atlantic  Flight VS29 from London Gatwick to Barbados on Thursday, were fined a total of $22,500 yesterday in District F Magistrate Court.

Derek Edmond, 76, his 46 year old daughter Zoe King and his 49 year son in law Martin King were told by Magistrate Laurie-Ann-Smith Bovell that they were lucky their birthday celebrations did not land them in jail,

Prosecutor Aliston Seales told the court that about three hours from Barbados the  three and seven of their friends started a noisy celebration on the plane.

A male  passenger asked them to be quiet and Zoe King said that  it was her birthday and she could do what she wanted.

King was pushed into her husband, and coffee from a cup he was holding spilled on her.

Edmond held the passenger around the neck while his son in law attacked  the man.

Flight attendants intervened and the situation was brought under control.

The magistrate fined the three British nationals $7,500 each with the alternative of one month in prison. The fines were paid.
