Bridgetown named UNESCO World Heritage Site

Bridgetown.

Bridgetown, the captial city of Barbados and its Garrison was inscribed as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultura(UNESCO) World Heritagel Site yesterday.

Minister of Culture,Stephen Lashley, who headed the Barbados  delegation to UNESCO's 35th World Heritage Committe Meeting in Parris, France said he was elated at the Committee's decision.

"This is a proud moment to truly celebrate, it shows that although being a small country, Barbados can boast of having a site that can stand shoulder to shoulder with any of the prestigious sites of world class heritage across the world",ashley said.
