Georgetown: Firefighters are currently fighting the blaze at the Ogle, East Coast Demerara location.Thick black smoke that erupted into the air could be seen miles away.Fire Chief Marlon Gentle said the origin of the fire is unknown and surrounding building were damages.
Five persons were left homeless after residents heard a loud explosion east of the burnt bond. Residents noted that 30 minutes after the fire service arrived the bond which has been in the community for over two decades was already raged by fire. Several combustible containers exploded.
