Bollywood Dreams for National Cultural Centre

Georgetown: Following a sold out performance September last, Naya Zamana 17 – Bollywood Dreams returns to the National Cultural Centre on Saturday January 19.

Featuring stunning dance sequences, choreographed by Dr. Vindhya Persaud, the show is a mix of classic and new Bollywood tracks, replete with grand sets and glittering costumes designed by Trishala Persaud and with a cast of 65, Naya Zamana 17 – Bollywood Dreams is sure to dazzle.

Inspired by Bollywood films which have for generations entertained the world, ‘Bollywood Dreams’, tells a vibrant story of unlikely dreams, perseverance, destiny, jealousy and love through the media of dance, drama and music. The story revolves around childhood friends Jiya and Sonia who love Bollywood movies. Sonia, played by Indhira Harry, wants to be a star and pursues this dream relentlessly while Jiya (Zahrah Alli) is more interested in mooning over the handsome actors, in particular the reigning Bollywood king, Yash Kapoor (Amit Shah). The doors to Bollywood open for Sonia when she lands a small part as a supporting dancer in a film. Whether she achieves her dream of superstardom, what happens when Jiya arrives in Bollywood and who wins the love of Yash will all be revealed in Bollywood Dreams.
