West Coast Demerara : The body of Mohamed Yussuff Ashraff, 61 years of 155 East Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara was discovered in a shallow drain at Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD, with head injuries, suspected to be that of a vehicular accident.
Based on information received at 2pm yesterday, police arrested a 26 years old resident of Seafield Leonora, WCD, who related to investigators that about 4 am yesterday he was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road in motor car PMM 321 when the vehicle suddenly turned south and he struck an object but failed to stop.
The body was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, pronounced dead on arrival and is presently at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem on Friday.
The driver is assisting with the investigation. A breathalyser test was administered and he was not found to have any alcohol in his breath.
