Berbice : Rishiram Singh of Fort Ordnance, East Canje, Berbice, was confronted by a group of six men in his yard at about 1:00am today. Two of them were armed with shotguns and the others with cutlasses.
Rishiram Singh managed to run into his home and close a glass door to the building, however the men discharged a round which shattered the door and Rishiram Singh was hit by pellets to his right foot.
The men entered the home and held up Singh and his wife Aruna Hardat and took away a quantity of jewellery and $4,000.00 and escaped.
The 32 year old Singh was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
