Berbice : At about 5:15pm today fisherman Narendra Thakoor called ‘Dado’, 44 years of Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, died at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
He was the suspect in the murder of Bhanmattie Bacchus of Angoy’ Avenue which had occurred earlier today.
The police had arrested Narendra Thakoor at about 11:00am today and had escorted him to the New Amsterdam Hospital following the receipt of information that he was suspected to have ingested poison. At the hospital the police were informed by the medical authorities that Thakoor had not consumed any poison and consequently he was placed in custody at the Central Police Station.
This afternoon Narendra Thakoor was observed to be vomiting and upon being questioned by the police, he insisted that he had drank poison. He was taken back to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he succumbed.
