Berbice : Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred at about on Skeldon Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice that resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Yatandeo Hiralall, 59 years, of Lot 7 Line Path, Skeldon.
A police report stated that the cyclist was proceeding north along the western side of the road when he was struck down from the rear by motor lorry GKK 7698, which was in the process of overtaking. He was picked up in a semi-conscious state and rushed to the Skeldon Hospital where he died about 1100am yesterday. whilst receiving treatment.
The driver, 76 years, of Rampoor Village, Corentyne is in custody assisting with the investigation. His blood alcohol level was tested and found to be zero percent.
