Barbados Open Golf Championship to be a spectacle

The United Insurance  Barbados Open Golf Championship  will be a magnificent spectacle with a number of innovative events.

This was disclosed by President of the Barbados Golf Association Hadley Byer at a press conference held  at the Barbados Golf Club Durants Christ Church to launch the Championship

According to Byer, the Barbados Golf Open will be played on four golf courses and will include  pro-am tournament and special social events which are designed to ensure that it is not just golf but good fun for all involved.

The four day  Championship will start on September 6 at the Barbados Golf Club and then move to the Country Club at Sandy Lane, it will shift to Royal West Moreland Golf Club on the final day for the closing ceremony.

 

For the first time there will be a professional section of the Championship which will be held at Apes Hill which will include a pro-am.

"A number of professional golfers have already registered for Championship, among them are our local pro at the Barbados Golf Club Michael Marshall, Sean Edy the pro at Royal West Moreland, Mitchel Casper  and Chris  Macmillam from Trinidad and other golfers from the Caribbean, United Insurance have donated $20,000 for this tournament. So the pros who have been asking for  a tournament  of this magnitude now have something to compete for, the amateurs will be vying to captured the prestigious Barbados Men and Ladies Championships", Byer said.
