Barbados consent to succession of the Crown Legislation

Bridgetown.

Barbados' Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite, has given the assurance that the island will move quickly to give consent to the Succession to the Crown legislation in Britain.

He made this disclosure at his Wildey St. Michael office during a recent courtesy call, by Advocate General for Scotland, Lord Wallace, who is also Bill Minister for the Succession to the Crown Bill in the House of Lords.

During the visit, the Minister said the matter was raised, and would be discussed further. He added that officials were still in the process of finding out if Barbados would need to amend the legislation to make it consistent with the new Succession to the Crown legislation.

The Succession to the Crown Act 2013 is an Act to make succession to the Crown not dependent on gender; to make provision about Royal Marriages; and for connected purposes. agandlordwallace
