Barbados ahead at the end of the first day

Barbados were 144 for 2, a lead of 34 in reply to Trinidad & Tobago first innings total of 110 all out at the close of play on the first day in the battle to decide who will be the champions of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Regional Four-Day competition at Kensington Oval.

Barbados won the toss and sent in the men from the Land of the Humming Bird to bat and it was almost immediately the Miguel Cummins show.

The highly promising fast bowler destroyed the Trinidad and Tobago top order with an outstanding display of fast bowling which had the visitors reeling at nine for 3 after five overs.

Cummins, in his first full season he played only one match on debut last year snatched five for 30 off 12.4 overs to lift his tally of wickets for the season to 31.

Rayad Emrit batting at number 9, top scored  with 34 off 47 balls including five boundaries. He and fellow fast bowler Shannon Gabriel 7 not add 40 off 9.2 overs for the last wicket.
