Barbadians no longer going to Cuba for eye care

Bridgetown.

Barbadians will no longer have to travel to Cuba for eye care when The Lions Eye Care Centre of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is fully functional from next year..

According to Minister of Health Donville Inniss,  over the past decade. hundreds of Barbadians have flown to Cuba  to have cataracts removed  or to be  treated for glaucoma.

The Minister said a fully functional ophthalmology unit at the Eye Care Centre would bring to an end the need for such travel, with very affordable rates for Barbadians.

"There is now no need for Barbadians to go to Cuba for eye care. We can do it here in Barbados and at a reasonable rate", Inniss told Trakker News.

He noted that the centre was already up and running but would become fully functional early next year.
