Barbadian born all-rounder Chris Jordan has been named in England’s squads for next week’s One Day International series against Ireland and Australia.

Jordan, who moved to Hove in December after being released by Surrey, has been a consistent performer for Sussex this season.

Sussex cricket manager Mark Robinson says Jordan deserves his first call-up to the England ODI squad.

"They will be looking at some of the most promising players in the county and Chris is certainly one of those. What he is is an explosive cricketer, especially as a bowler. I am sure England will have a look at him and get him among some of the more regular players as they build towards a potential World Cup in 2015,"Robinson said.

Jordan has taken 51 wickets at an average of 26.58 in the County Championship, as well as 11 in YB40 competition and eight in the FLt20 tournament.

His form saw him called up to represent the England Lions in their three-match series against Bangladesh A last week, when he took five wickets in two appearances at Taunton.

Jordan, 24, represented Barbados in the regional first-class and Super 50 competitions before leaving for England to play for Sussex.
