Bandits rob Banks DIH truck of millions

crimeGeorgetown: Three Banks DIH employees were bounded and gagged Wednesday night after bandits intercepted the company’s truck at Beterverwagting Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD). The men were discovered at 20:30hrs in the back of the truck, bound with duct tape. They were subsequently freed by a passer-by who heard them banging the walls of the truck. Their location then was Enmore Railway Embankment. Police said they are investigating an alleged robbery under arms committed on the driver of a delivery truck, which occurred, about 19: 00hrs Wednesday night at Beterverwagting Public Road, ECD. The three bandits, one armed with a handgun escaped with millions of dollars.  Enquiries disclosed that the driver/salesman Trevor Thom, of West Ruimveldt,  and two porters, all employees of Banks DIH Limited, were in the company’s vehicle proceeding west, when a dark-coloured motor car pull up in front their vehicle blocking the salesman path. Police said the bandits exited the motor car, approached their vehicle and relieved them of the cash which was in the vehicle, after which the men placed a piece of cloth over their face, causing them to lose consciousness. The men then made good their escape after carrying the vehicle to another location.
