West coast Demerara: The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 19:45h.last evening at East Meten-meer-zorg, WCD, during which businesswoman Indranie Bisram, 40 years, was attacked and robbed by five men all armed with firearms.
Investigations have revealed that Indranie Bisram along with her husband Deonauth Judistry, 50 years, her nephew Yudesh Pooran, 18 years, and her ten-year-old daughter were in their grocery store when the five men entered and held them at gunpoint. The perpetrators then ransacked the building and took away $2.7 million, $22,000.00 US, and jewellery, discharging rounds into the air as they left.
They are suspected to have escaped by boat from the koker at De Willem, WCD.
