Berbice : At about 12:25 am today businessman Deochand Hemchand, 32 years of No. 11 Village, Corentyne, and his wife were attacked and robbed by four men, two of whom were armed with a shotgun and a cutlass.
The men broke into the home and held up Deochand Hemchand and his wife during which he was chopped to his hands and head. The perpetrators took away $200,000.00 and a quantity of jewellery and escaped.
Deochand Hemchand has been admitted a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
