Bandits caught after robbing in excess of $2M from Hotel Tower accountant

 Georgetown : Ranks of the Guyana Police Force are investigating a Robbery under arms committed on an employee of a popular hotel on Main Street, Georgetown yesterday by two males, who have since been apprehended by the police.

Enquiries disclosed that the employee who is an accountant with the hotel, had recently returned from making a substantial withdrawal from a city bank and about to disembark his vehicle in front of the hotel, when he was approached by one of the suspects, who discharged a round from a firearm, which struck a security guard who was also in the vehicle to his abdomen, broke a window and snatched a bag containing the cash and escaped on a waiting motorcycle.

The injured guard was rushed to a private hospital where he was treated for his injuries and admitted in a stable condition.

A mobile patrol acting on information received pursued the suspects, who tried to elude the lawmen and ended up in the Sussex Street Canal in the vicinity of North East La penitence.

The Motorcycle and a significant amount of cash were recovered, however one of the suspects admitted to dropping the firearm in the canal.
