Bandit shoot, chop minibus driver who refused mugging

Georgetown: A minibus driver who was shot and chopped about his body by three men, two of whom had guns and the other a cutlass was admitted at the Georgetown Public Road in a stable condition.

Police said the incident occurred about 18:45h Friday evening at Victoria Street, Plaisance East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Investigations revealed that the victim Alfred Braithwaite,37,a minibus driver of South Vryheid’s Lust, ECD was standing in front of the Superbet shop when the suspects approached and demanded money and because he refused he was shot in the right leg.

The victim further alleged that after being shot he rushed into his minibus #BVV 7712 which was nearby and secured himself but was pursued by the suspects who damaged the windscreens and windows and also inflicted a wound to the right side of his face and relieved him of $14,000.

The suspects were only identified as “Juvenile”, “Bang” and “Kevin” whom are being sought by police.
