Georgetown: Assistant Commissioner of Police Balram Persaud is critical in a city hospital after he crashed his car a short distance from the Demerara Harbour Bridge, West Bank Demerara late Friday night. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle which the commissioner was driving lost control resulting in the car spinning and toppling into a utility pole. He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital for where he was referred to city hospital.
