Georgetown: Assistant Police Commissioner Balram Persaud succumbed to injuries he sustained during an accident that occurred more than one week ago.
Persaud was travelling to Georgetown one evening when the car in which he was in lost control and skidded off the road and slammed into a pole in the vincity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
Persaud had been heading to Georgetown on the night of Friday, February 5, 2016 when the car in which he was travelling ran off the road at Schoonord, West Bank Demerara near the Demerara Harbour Bridge. Eyewitnesses said the driver lost control of the car resulting in the vehicle spinning several times and slamming into a utility pole.
